We meet as a self-help group of basketmakers with some experience on the third Saturday of each month from 10 to 3 in the Watson Memorial Hall in Lucker. We enjoy a pooled lunch together. Coffee and tea are provided.
We have tools available to borrow on the day. Willow, for use in the class only, can be preordered from Anne, who will need time to soak and prepare it. Most of it comes from the Northumbria Basketry Group plot. If you need more to use at home, don't hesitate to contact Alan Winlow at info@northumbriabasketrygroup.co.uk.
Please look at the NBG website for details on beginner classes.
We tend not to have a theme as we don't have a tutor on Saturdays. We work on our own projects or seek inspiration from our super library of basketry books. From time to time, we host workshops with specialist tutors, which are advertised on this website.
If you would like to join us and have completed a beginners course, please get in touch with Anne in the first place to order your willow.
Each Saturday costs £10 or £60 to cover the year. Materials cost extra and must be preordered well in advance.
We start up again this year on January 20th.
