Our basketry group website homepage now has an improved format.

It is now easier to find information about joining self-help groups, purchasing willow rods, attending basketry classes, and making commissions for baskets and other articles made by group members.

In addition, members can display their work and confirm that they accept commissions in the member's profiles section. For example, I received a commission for a large square log storage basket in the past month. The commission was for an 80 cm by 60 cm basket, larger than any square basket I had previously made. I found information in Steen H Madsen's book "Baskets with Corners" most helpful. In particular, the importance of slyping the stakes on the belly to assist with keeping the square shape.

If you do not have a member's profile and would like one, please get in touch with me, and we will get it organised. Making baskets for commissions helps with improving basket-making skills as well as providing income.
