People worldwide have been weaving and twining vegetable fibres and materials for thousands of years, creating beautiful and valuable baskets and containers from a myriad of fibres. Some of these fibres are hiding in our gardens and hedgerows.
There is an opportunity to discover a new facet of basketmaking with Anna Corbett in the Pockets and Pouches Workshop at Cullercoats group in April. The workshop will explore different twining techniques using a range of plants. Please check out the details here.
Feedback from Anna’s workshops includes –
“Learning about plant fibre with Anna is a joy; Anna’s knowledge and enthusiasm for everything growing in your garden and the hedgerow is infectious. You’ll never dispose of anything in your compost bin or on your bonfire ever again!
The course will open your mind, and you’ll never look at plants in the same way again. You’ll come away with your very own handmade plant fibre goodies and the confidence to process your plants to make more.”
“I discovered a new world in basketmaking on Anna’s course; the materials used are readily available and free.”
