A New Basketry Group Training Venue

The latest two-day Beginners' Shopping Basket workshop was held at Ravenstonedale Community and Heritage Centre in the Eden Valley over the weekend of the 28th/29th of October. This venue is the furthest west of any location in England for teaching basketry in Northumbria Basketry Group. The basket is one featured in Jonathan Ridgeon's book, Willow Basketry, A How to Guide. Elaine Blackett-Ord organised the event, and the tutor was Jane Chapman. The village of Ravenstonedale is exceptionally picturesque, and the facilities at the centre are excellent.

Seven people attended the workshop, which was supported by the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers' Charitable Trust.
