A Basketmaking Retreat on Lindisfarne From 1pm on Friday 9th until 2pm on Sunday 11th November 2018 Lucker and Bamburgh Willow Weavers ….invite you to an Autumn weekend of basketweaving and feltmaking on Holy Island, just off the Northumbrian coast where for centuries, people have come to retreat from their busy lifestyles and to enjoy the remoteness, peace and tranquillity found in this beautiful place. Anna Turnbull, maker of very fine organic baskets incorporating her own felt, will be our tutor this year. We will have the opportunity to make our own basket making a Catalan platter base either entirely from natural willow or incorporating pieces of dyed willow or our own felt which Anne will teach us to make. Handles could be made of local driftwood collected from the beach. Everything will be at a level suitable for both intermediate weavers and also beginners who will be given additional support. For inspiration please look at Anna's own website at Biteabout Arts. We will be staying in shared rooms at Marygate House, a Christian retreat centre where the Community will provide our meals. We are invited to make donations to the house if we are able to. (I suggest as a guide at least £100 which I know is the cost to the house)Our workshops will be held in the beautiful St Cuthbert’s Centre, a former chapel. The cost of the weekend workshop, tools and tuition is £125. A small charge will be made for willow used. To reserve a place please send a cheque for £125 (made payable to Lucker and Bamburgh Willow Weavers)to Anne Otley, who can be contacted for further information at:- Lucker House, Lucker, Belford, Northumberland NE70 7JG (Tel:1668 219118)
