The last of the woven mulch was removed from the Whitton site today and the growing area is now ready for the removal of the stool roots. A contractor will be on site soon to carry out this process.
The willow storage shelter has also been got ready for removal to Whittondean. The bolts anchoring it to the ground have been removed and the bundles of willow it held have been stored temporarily in the living willow dome. (This has been fitted with a canvas cover)
Preparations are in hand at Whittondean for the placing of the slabs that will form the floor of the shelter - see image. When these are in place the shelter will be transported to Whittondean by trailer.
I would like to thank everyone that has helped with this year's harvesting and with the very considerable amount of work involved in clearing the site. Together we have achieved a great deal in a short space of time. Thank you.
